Striving, Self-Discipline and Will
Striving is the open sesame to achievement.
Only striving carries us toward the next step. Only vigilance enables us to overcome successfully all obstacles.
All that is done in a halfway manner will bring halfway results.
All the Teachings condemn lukewarmness, therefore, let us be fiery.
Labor with all the tension of your forces because only by reaching the limits of your tension do new possibilities come to you.
Discipline is the beginning of all knowledge and power.
Only thought which is saturated with fiery will can create. One can acquire such will only by stubborn practice.
Only an iron will and iron steadfastness can bring one to the goal.
Weakness of character indicates a comparative immaturity of spirit. Old spirits know exactly what they want and are usually very persistent in their decisions and achievements.
Always first apply the Teaching to your self; otherwise you will remain on the same step.
Absence of doubt is the open sesame to all achievements.
Self-Analysis and Purification
The purifying of consciousness is the first step, after that we advise the discipline of thought; to learn how to think in one direction, without being distracted even for a moment.
Let each one look into the depth of their own consciousness; let them awaken their heart; let them give to themselves a severe accounting of all the motives which direct their actions; and let them start immediately the eradication of all bad accumulations, as time is short!
My first advice to you is to write down from the books of the Teaching all the qualities that are essential for the one who would be among the accepted disciples. Then, penetrate deep into your innnermost, determine your worst faults, choose one of them, and try with all your might to get rid of it by replacing it with its opposite. After getting rid of it, start to work on another, and so on.
Determine your three worst vices, and try and rid yourself of them. A tremendous victory will be yours.
The elimination of one of your undesirable habits will bring you more benefit than learning by heart all the existing systems of cosmogony.
I suggest you keep daily notes regarding your progress. Put down how far you have succeeded in applying at least one of the advices chosen by you from the Teachings, or in eradicating some habit which hinders your progress.
It is helpful to look back and to give oneself, if possible, an impartial account as to what one used to be and what one has become. It is helpful to exercise our imagination and to picture to ourselves what our destiny would be without the wise and benevolent guidance.
The main condition for progress is honesty with oneself.
Complete purification of consciousness is necessary, with eradication of the slightest sign of irritability. High achievements are almost impossible when polluted by imperil.
It is necessary to remember constantly the ruinous effects of irritability.
During each conversation, when there is no unity of consciousness, our first duty is not to infuriate our companion by contradiction and censure of his/her convictions. Carry them with patience and respect for your adversary, not permitting irritation, derision, etc. In each conversation know how to sacrifice one's self, one's knowledge, and not to boast of one's enlightenment.
Practice severe discipline of speech.
The surest most natural way is the development of the heart and the purification of consciousness.
Achieve psychic calmness. Do not over burden your brain. Read more slowly and ponder more.
Do not force your brain in the late evening hours.
Conceit stops all progress.
Special Tools for Purification and Psychic Protection
It is always beneficial to have in rooms small pine trees or to spray the pine essences. Pine purifies the atmosphere, drives away undesirable entities. Essence of peppermint is also good.
Lofty music, wonderful aromas, purity of atmosphere, and color of room can be helpful.
Live flowers, preferably uncut, are always and in all cases useful because of their aroma and beauty
With regard to mint. All kinds of mint can be used both externally and internally. Mint tea is a good disinfectant. Helps during inflammation of the centers. Lower entities don't like smell of mint. Useful to keep as house plant.
Best remedy against astral entities is oil of eucalyptus.
The mental link with the Hierarchy and the sevenfold pronouncing of the Name of the Teacher usually frightens and drives away the whisperers. But such a repetition should be accompanied by the rhythm of the heart.
When faced with fear of astral entity, concentrate on the Great Image and pronounce the Name seven times, surrounding yourself mentally with an impenetrable armor of light.
Special Hints and Substances for Healing or Prevention of Illness
A stay in the mountains reacts favorably upon people with cancer ... blood changes on heights, becoming more abundant in red corpuscles and thicker. Sun baths--at sunrise the rays are especially powerful in their healing properties. Thus the best healers are the rays of the rising sun, pure mountain prana, and especially pure thoughts and aspiration of the heart toward high, altruistic tasks.
Those who think of the past lose their sight.
Intimate conversations in front of works of art are very beneficial.
Autosuggestion is helpful.
One is advised to lubricate the nasal passages (the nose) with a preparation of Vaseline and menthol. This excellent disinfectant refreshes the breath and prevents colds.
Musk balances the nervous system. Dose: medium-sized or small-sized pellet once a day. Musk is the substance of psychic energy--the phosphorous of spirit. Very potent and powerful. Protects against many diseases including cancer. Used in Ayurvedic and Tibetan medicines. Nourishes all the nerve centers.
Valerian is a life-giver. Should be taken continuously as daily food. Dose; ten to 40 drops of tincture. Best is valerian tea infusing roots in water once or twice daily.
Cedar tar (best is Siberian cedar) and other tars like eucalyptus and resins are products of psychic energy from trees. Deodar, musk, amber, are all lifegivers. They strengthen, purify, heal. Emanations from pine trees are irreplaceable. Pine trees accumulate vital forces, prana.
2-3 fruits or vegetables, a little cereal, some milk and butter--this is the best diet.
Bicarbonate of Soda. The ash of divine fire. Sent for the use of all humanity. Remember it in sickness and in health. As a bond with fiery actions it serves as a shield against the darkness of destruction. But one should accustom the body to it gradually. Each day it should be taken with water or milk, and in taking it one should, as it were, direct it into the nerve centers. Thus can one gradually acquire immunity. It is a preventative against all sorts of diseases including cancer. But you must make it a rule to take it regularly and daily. Especially does it help pain in the lower chest and movement in the solar plexus. Usual dose is one coffespoonful to a glass. You should recommend soda to everyone. Bicarbonate of soda is absolutely necessary during a conflagration of the centers. It discharges the fiery energies and prevents consuming fire.
Oil of wormwood when rubbed in, is beneficial for swollen glands.
The busiest people live the longest, provided there is rhythm in their work.
A horoscope of the patient may give a clue to the disease and the treatment.
Simple rhythmic breathing is beneficial.
Certainly it useful to have some knowledge of astrology ... one should always bear in mind that the free will of man/woman is the most powerful factor in everything and can change many signs. Knowledge of astrology will considerably facilitate healing through the rays of the luminaries. A horoscope cast correctly will indicate which rays of the luminaries and which combinations of them are most beneficial. Study medical astrology. He or she who knows about the position of a luminary favorable to him or her can while gazing at it consciously absorb its strengthening force.
For true success the devotional love should be focused on a single Teacher, but quite often the called and aspiring one, in the desire for immediate progress, squanders his forces and looks for other Great Teachers and Teachings.
For anyone who enters the path of discipleship and is not just reading the occult books, it is absolutely essential to decide in the depth of the heart which of the Great Teachers of the Brotherhood is the nearest to him or her, and then to surrender themselves completely to His Guidance, without any limitations or conditions.
If you are to succeed you must remember constantly and ardently with your heart the One Chosen Image.
Love your chosen Teacher with all your heart, with all your being, and attainments will not be slow in coming.
Preserve in your heart the Image of your best Friend, the Great Teacher, and all joy will be yours.
For the quickest self-perfecting and development of spirituality the most essential is a constant thought about the Highest Hierarch--remembering the Luminous Image every moment of the day and night and doing all our work in His Name, we are gradually establishing the sacred union.
Each one must find the key to the Teaching in his/her own heart.
The unprejudiced mind seeks everywhere for truth.
The Teaching requires independence of action from the disciple. The Teaching gives direction, generously giving the precious hints, but the disciple must him/herself with their own hands and feet build their path. Do not expect ready made formulas. From small hints build the great structure.
If we run from one path to another we shall only waste our forces and arrive nowhere.
Usually the black spots indicate the approach of darkness or of chaotic energies. In such cases it is advisable to apply carefulness in everything. The larger they are and the more of them you see, the greater the care that should be taken.
The purple, blue, silvery, and at times golden ones are always the good messengers, or are signs of the closeness of the emanations of the Teacher.
Yellow ones warn against possible danger, and red ones indicate extreme tension in the atmosphere; and then one must expect earthquakes, storms, and even revolutions.
One can know the worthy person by the blue or silver star, and the betrayer by the black one.
The equilateral triangle with the apex uppermost is one of the signs of the White Brotherhood.
The brothers of darkness are very fond of brilliant intellects developed at the expense of the heart
At the head of the Sons of Light stands the Archangel Michael--his adversary in the camp of darkness is Satan.
Many naive people think that the dark ones act only through evil, corruption and crime. Only crude and relatively unimportant forces act in this way. Much more dangerous are those who masquerade under the Light of the Teaching.
Lucifer is now at the head of the Black Brotherhood. The victory of the devil lies in his ability to convince people he doesn't exist.
How can one affirm the growth of the spirit, prove devotion to hierarchy, only by this single law--honesty of service.
Help in all aspects should be extended the needy.
All your spiritual sendings are good. The most important in all sendings is the sensation of warmth in the heart. The key to all achievements is in the heart, in its fiery energies.
Fall asleep with thoughts of flying to help where you are needed and sent.
The most urgent, the most essential task is the education of children and youth.
Observe the currents of events. By such experience you approach the predestined.
Make a note of all signs, and write down when and under what circumstances something unusual was seen.
We know that a sincere repentance before death, together with the last pure thought and powerful striving toward the Highest, carry the spirit into the spheres of the Subtle World in complete correspondence with this vibration or striving.
When we light a candle, we summon to earthly manifestation the fire concealed in space. The extinguishing of the flame returns it again into space saturated with the fluids that accompanied its lighting and process of burning. When calling forth fire from space, it is advisable to accompany these actions by the most benevolent sendings and benediction.
When you write, harken to the voice of the heart.
All and any debts must be paid, for a debt is an obligation of the spirit.
Aside from the rarest exceptions, humanity came to our planet from the moon.
Learn to catch the sendings as you fall asleep or wake up.
The ordainment of the Great Brotherhood is--create heroes!

Only mental work broadens our consciousness.
Do not obscure your consciousness by fragmentary, unsystematic studies!
Do not rush to various sources, without studying first the foundations.
The reading of lesser books will be a waste of time.

One must believe in longevity, the possibility of reaching a great age.
One must avoid anger, malice, envy, jealousy, and irritability and develop a kindly and
good disposition.
One must not fear death, but believe in immortality. Fear of death shortens our life.
Ponder more deeply on the concept of Infinity.
